Waffle Place Cottage

Waffle craze.
@ Suntec City

They have this stretch of wall where diners paste their post-its and photos on it.
In general, i would give a 4/5 (rating) for their ambience & overall dining comfort, as this lil dessert house has nice setting & couches for chilling.

Waffle Couple's Set

the set costs around $20, and i would say its a lil on the steep side. however, since it's a fondue set, it is considered pretty cheap comparatively. (as opposed to Hagen Das etc.)

Choco Fondue

The sweetness is just right, whilst being thick and rich.
Rating:
★★★

Scoops (to go with Fondue)

Even though you are not able to decide on the flavours, they do offer good variety to suit your liking. Flavours given include: butter scotch, choco chips, strawberry, rum & raisins and raspberry with vanilla.
Rating:
★★★★

Waffles (The highlight)

On one hand, its a pity that the waffles turned cold when it was served. on the other, it still tasted reasonably well with a slight crisp on the surface. For the fruits & other sides, there are green apples, fresh bananas as well as marshmallows. It's a good mix between the sweetness and tinge of sourness.

记的吃 @ Liang Seah St (Bugis)

For the sweet-toothed...

location: opp Bugis Junction

Yin & Yang (cold/hot)
Almond & Black sesame paste

Good mix - the taste of the sweet & thin almond paste, blends well with the thick black sesame paste that is relatively less sweet. Because black sesame can get a lil' bitter after an amount, it ensures that you won't get too sick of the almond, vice versa. The portion is just right esp after you have had a heavy meal.

★★★

Yum paste w/ sweet potato and ginkgo (Hot)

If you are a fan of yum paste (Orh-nee), and prefer thick paste, you should like this. i personally like it because of the richness of its yum flavour, and it isn't too sweet. Because it doesn't give too strong a sweet after-taste, it doesn't leave you feeling sick after finishing the bowl.
Rating:
★★★★

The dessert house also has many other authentic desserts on their menu, including their known durian dessert (榴莲飘香), mango puree,
双奶皮 with durian puree etc. The other pastes other than those in the above photos include walnut, chestnut, peanut and the like.

Gulf Beach: Lebanon restaurant @ Arab St

A unique cuisine in sight...

the Lebanese Restaurant & Cafe

The main courses apply for both lunch & dinner.

The hot appetizer - Cheese rolls

Crispy Cheese rolls which resemble our chinese deep fried spring rolls!

The Lebanese do have their own uniquely made cheese. The cheese tastes kind of sour, bearing the exact same taste as the sour cream. This is not exactly to my liking. There are of course other appetizers which I didn't order; fried chicken wings, calamari, Lebanese lamb sausage stir-fried with veggies etc.
Rating:
★★

The appetizing chilli sauce

I personally like the sauce they provide. Its given when you order any appetizers or main course. It isn't very salty and has a strong spicy taste. It made the cheese rolls tasty though. A Must-try for chilli lovers.

★★★★

The char-grilled chicken cubes
Staple food: vermicelli rice.
(in a mixture of spices, olive and tomato sauce, topped w/ fresh onions)

The chicken cubes are rather tender, albeit under-seasoned. The seasoning didn't really seep into the cubes, so it could have been more tasty.
Rating:
★★

Tender chicken in Lebanese spices & sauce
(Cutlet is a big wholesome piece, topped with spices & onions)

The chicken is well seasoned, with its skin crispy and perfectly-grilled. Cutlet is also perfectly tender and big. Upon finishing the entire plate, I was full & totally gratified. Even though the chicken is really tasty, my bud didn't really sense any unique/authentic Lebanese scent in the seasoning, which I was anticipating. The seasonings probably were adjusted to suit our local palate. Whatever the case is, I have to give credit to the tasty chick.

★★★★

The perfect vermicelli rice grains

This rice reminds me of the define solid grains of the nasi briyani rice which we always eat from the indian stalls. Don't judge it by its dull look. it definitely is tasty; in texture (where the rice isn't too soft/mushy), in flavour and aroma.

★★★★

'Gulf beach' is also known for their Kebab grills and rolls. (A pity that I didn't order, cos very ex!) The restaurant generally offers either rice or potato wedges as the main-carbohydrate food for their main courses. Choose the rice instead of the wedges for a better deal!

Apparently, there's a theory which says that one should always try the food that is unique to the cuisine rather than ordering something which one is familiar with. i.e. dont visit a Chinese restaurant ordering spaghetti. try what the Chinese is good/specialised at.
Same applies to this Middle-eastern cuisine!

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ T3

Introducing ...

Black pepper chicken chop, spaghetti

the main highlight here is obviously the chicken cutlet. it's quite huge a piece, well-seasoned and tender. the sauce served with the cutlet is rich, although not overly salty for my taste bud. the portion of the spaghetti could have been bigger with the price paid tho. perhaps this is what people always say: quality over quantity.
Rating:
★★★

Ice Soy Milk

thick soy milk with a perfect tinge of sweetness. what's best is that the ice cubes didn't spoil the taste. i managed to finish the entire cup - so, it means that the milk didn't place too heavy a burden on my bud and is most apt to quench one's thirst.
Rating:

★★★★

Black pepper chicken (with egg & rice)

near perfect. fyi, the chicken here is similar to the first dish(chicken w/ spaghetti). i would once again give the black pepper sauce & lovely chicken the attention. if you have noticed, there must be a reason as to why i gave a higher rating for this, as compared to the first dish. simply put, i still find that the chicken and sauce taste better with rice than spaghetti. maybe it's a chinese thing?
Rating:
★★★★

Black pepper beef (baked rice)

Succulent beef with oozing mozzarella and wholesome rice grains.

isn't the photograph itself a proof of its own?
i would give it:
